2011, the season so far............. Two
rounds into the Goldspeed British Quadcross Championship and Giles Davis sits 3rd
overall in the standings. Solid results in all four motos of the year so far
have resulted in a strong position as the championship enters the second half of
the year. 3rd
in timed qualifying at the opening round hinted at the extra speed gained from
winter training, but lack of bike time resulted in arm pump at the 15 minute
mark. Losing positions in the closing stages of the 25min +2 lap motos, 6-7 moto
finishes was a solid start to the year. Round
2 was held at Duns in Scotland and after heavy rain leading up to the event,
qualifying and the first moto were pretty one-lined as the track dried. Race 2
brought perfect track conditions with lines opening up, after getting spun round
in the first turn a charge back through the pack earned a 5th place
finish. A 5-5 scorecard meant 5th overall and a move up to 3rd
in the series standings. The
next round takes place at Tinkerhill, Northern Ireland.
